I have recovered from traveling back from the fitness conference in Orlando.
You may already know this, but route I-95 is a bear to travel, especially during spring break week, on a motorcycle. Luckily, I was traveling north which wasn’t as congested as the south-bound lane.
Home safe and sound is a great feeling!
At the fitness conference there was a lot of discussion about hot topics in the fitness industry, and one of the hottest topics is getting our clients to take a rest or recovery day.
As you know rest days are critical to our client’s making progress. The same is true of building your business.
When you start working on your business, instead of working only in your business, it’s tiring. It’s one of the biggest challenges our new VIP clients face.
We often simply go back to doing something more comfortable, back to working in our business like we always have.
The trick is to start with small blocks of time where you can focus on the task at hand, ideally just a few minutes if this process is new to you.
Discipline yourself to stay focused for that specific time. Then, let your mind rest and go do something else. Focus elsewhere, like going back to working in your business.
You mind will continue working on the task in the background. Remain aware, and receptive to any sudden insights or thoughts seemingly coming out of nowhere. You will be pleasantly surprised with what your mind comes up with.
Repeat this process every day for a couple of weeks. In a short time, you will have developed a new habit, a habit that will explode your business.
As soon as you can manage it, build bigger and bigger rest periods into your schedule. Your goal is to get to where you take at least one day a week off from working in the business. During these times your mind will work even harder for you supplying insights and ideas to build your business.
Like the athletes we train for improved fitness, we need rest days in order to improve our businesses.
