I received a voice call yesterday afternoon.
There was no caller id, but it was a local number.
To my surprise it was a fitness business, more specifically one of the local branches of a prominent national franchise.
This well-known franchise is exploding although they do almost no national advertising.
The surprise was the reason for the call. They were following up on my visit back in December. I thought they would have forgotten me by now, like every other facility I have visited.
The caller was pleasant and very easy to talk to. She explained a special promotion they have going for the weekend and wanted to know if I was interested in stopping by.
Here is what is unusual. This organization has stayed in contact me since December. Between text messages and phone calls, they have contacted me no less than 20 times!
In none of the interactions with me were they pushy or salesy.
No other gym or fitness facility I have visited has had such a thorough, persistent and professional follow up strategy. No wonder this franchise strikes terror in most gym owners when they move into the neighborhood.
Most fitness centers have never followed up with me or may have reached out once or twice at the most.
It’s critically important, and profitable, to stay in contact with your potential customers that stopped by to visit you or took the initiative to contact you.
With the software and technology available today, it’s not really that difficult. Start small and build from there.
