A couple of days ago, on my way to Colorado, I got “lost” traveling through some road construction areas in Indianapolis.
My motorcycle has all kinds of electronic and navigation systems. All these great systems kept re-routing me back to roads that were closed for construction. Keeping track of all this incoming information and staying safe on the motorcycle was quite a challenge.
I was getting too much information when what I really needed was to simplify and focus.
I focused on one thing that has never failed me.
Before I share my solution, I want to draw an analogy.
We see this same situation all the time in business, especially when the owner is faced with a serious business challenge or an elusive goal.
There is so much information available to us, all of which seems to be a viable solution, that we can easily get overwhelmed and immobilized, which makes things even worse.
We don’t need more ideas, we need fewer ideas and more concentrated action.
How do you stay on track? How do you sort out the real solution to the problem?
The answer is to find the one thing, the highest priority, proven, strategy and doggedly stick to it until you achieve success.
On the motorcycle, my solution was to shut down all my electronic navigation systems, except one thing – my compass. I took whatever roads I needed to, but kept moving in one direction, west. It all worked out.
I learned early on in business when faced with a business challenge to shut down all correction systems except one thing – my mentor.
Then to move steadily in one direction, even when I was (usually) uncomfortable.
Do you have a business challenge or a dream/goal that keeps eluding you? Perhaps it’s time to focus on fewer things?
Perhaps you would benefit from a deeper dialogue? Perhaps the 6 Figure Trainer’s program is something you need to check out.
