My motorcycle tour of the country continues and I am writing to you from sunny Vermont.
The weather is absolutely beautiful, yet you can feel the change of seasons coming our way. Soon it will be time for me to head back South.
In my meetings with gym owners and clients, I see a common theme.
People are starting new program initiatives to grow their businesses which is a very good thing. In fact, it’s vital to keep the business evolving.
Let’s say for example you are starting a high-end training program or an online program. (Both are excellent and timely ideas!)
The owner has an idea, commits his/her plans to writing, markets the idea and gets one or two new clients. It’s a very exciting time. Since this is a new initiative, doubt and excitement are in equal measure and there is a tendency to start making changes to the original plan.
Avoid this at all costs!
Keep doing what you did to get the one or two new clients until you have a total of 10 clients. This is your magic number!
Once you have 10 people paying for your new program you will have learned a lot. You will have a stronger avatar of the ideal client for your new program.
Then and only then will you have enough information to make informed changes to the program and especially to your marketing efforts.
One or two people is simply too small a sample size to help you make an informed decision.
It is natural to be uncomfortable with changes and it’s human to rush to make a change, but if the program worked for a couple of people, it will also work for another eight people. You are on your way, stay on that path!
Remember, your magic number is 10!
