My recent visit to the hospital was a shocker.
I enjoy being very active. Most of my life has been spent training for triathlons, mountain climbing, kayaking and lately, riding a motorcycle.
To make a long story short(er), I had a procedure scheduled last Friday. What we all thought was going to be fairly simple and straight forward, suddenly turned sideways – a plot twist.
Things got real serious, real fast and seemingly out of control.
I was fortunate as the team working on me was prepared. In those tense moments, they went into action and focused on the task a hand. They had a system. They had practiced. They were ready.
There was nothing I could do. I had to trust their system.
This is where I see so many businesses fail. Trust me, you WILL experience many plot twists in your business life.
Things are going fine at the moment and the owner breathes a quiet sigh of relief, while secretly harboring a nagging thought that he/she does not have a system in place if things go sideways.
What could go sideways? Any number of things and they are usually, almost always, something we are not expecting, and certainly not prepared for. That’s why it’s called a surprise.
The antidote is to have a system in place designed to handle the surprise. And equally, if not more importantly, to have rehearsed and practiced putting the system in place.
I hope your business has a system, and even better yet, systems, in place to handle, manage, survive and even thrive the plot twists that will come your way.
The acid test for you and your business – can you walk away from your business for a few days and have things continue as usual without you being present? Smart successful business owners can, and you can too.
As for me, I will need a few more days before everything is back to normal, but I and my business survived (once again) a plot twist.
Want more ideas like this? Perhaps the 6 Figure Trainer’s program is something you need to check out before you experience a plot twist.
You only get results if you take action on your ideas. Do it now!
