Do You Have A Weekly Board Meeting?

A Board Meeting is an invaluable tool for every business, especially if you are in a business all by yourself.

Sunday night is my planning night for the week.

I dedicate time on Sunday evenings to organizing my week and planning what needs to be done.

Every Sunday is a struggle and I have to discipline myself to honor my planning time. Staying on track requires a lot of willpower.

The problem is…I like being active. I dislike sitting in one place for long.

I’ll bet you are the same as me in this regard. This is a characteristic of many small business owners that are going places with their businesses. We are action and activity-oriented (it’s not just me, right?)

The reality is that the more time we spend planning, the less time it takes to execute the plans that will move us forward in life and business.

The minimum return on investment I have seen on the value of planning time is a 1 to 10 return. In other words for every hour spent on planning, we get at least 10 hours back. That’s a really good return!

There are all kinds of reasons why we allow ourselves to get distracted, but it really comes down to our dream. What do we want it and how badly do we want it? Of course, I am talking about the ambitious goals we have for our business.

But, If we are not dedicating time in our schedule to work on our plans, and schedule time to work on our goals, they are not going to happen.

If you have a job and are part of a team at work, it’s a safe bet you have periodic planning meetings.

Why not have board meetings every week for your business? Even if you are the only “employee” in your business a weekly Board Meeting dedicated to your business will soon put you light years ahead of your competitors.

There are many topics for your weekly Board Meetings, so try to focus on those things that are important to move your business forward. Usually, they are the uncomfortable topics and keep getting pushed aside, and leave you at the end of the year disappointed that yet another year has gone by and the struggle remains.

You know your goals. You know what you want. The chances are really good that lack of results is tied to a lack of time in your schedule dedicated to doing what needs to be done.

Schedule your work time in advance and guard your meeting time, your Board Meeting as the most important appointment of the week.

Want more ideas, let’s talk. It costs you nothing.

Remember, you only get results if you take immediate action on your ideas.
