Tomorrow Never Comes

Try this on for a fun experience. Keep track of how many times in one day someone, anyone, says that they will get to that tomorrow.

It’s amazing how many times you will hear this in one day. Like me, you may find yourself occasionally saying, and thinking, things like this.

We’re all human and have a tendency to put things off until a later time. Especially things that are not that urgent.

But the reality is that tomorrow never comes.

The only thing we have is today.

For example, we know we need to work on our marketing plan, but it’s summer and nice out. We’ll get to it tomorrow. But tomorrow never comes.

Here’s what to do right now with your inspirational idea.

  1. Take a minute and decide if this is really worth doing.
  2. If it’s not really worth it, dismiss the idea and move on (this is very important).
  3. If you decide the idea should be pursued, schedule a time in your calendar to work on it for at least 10 minutes before the sun goes down.
  4. At the same time schedule 10-15 minutes a day in your calendar for the next two weeks to work on your idea.
  5. Make it happen every day for the next two weeks. You will be astounded at the progress you will make in 10 minute sessions.

A word of caution, you must not break the chain of working on your challenge every day. A missed day sets you back to “0.”

Stick with your plan. It’s only 10 minutes, and everyone can find 10 minutes in their day.

Remember the difference between success and failure is committing to, and sticking to, a schedule of applied effort, no matter how small the increments of time are. This is what separates success and successful people, from failure.
