Make It Easy For Your Prospects To Like You

I recently visited a gym I have been hearing a lot about. It’s part of a national chain and has generated a lot of interest in its programs.

I was visiting because I wanted to check them out and potentially join for a few months to mix my training up. I am also interested from the 6 Figure Trainers perspective in what have they done to separate themselves from other gyms in a competitive market.  

Being a national chain, that sells franchises, they are all about systems. They did what every business should do, but so few do it. 

Right after I signed up online, they immediately established contact with me.

They started building a relationship with me BEFORE I ever visited their facility. 

Within minutes of my completing the online signup form, my phone rang. It was one of the staff from the gym. 

The team member calling was very pleasant and wanted to help me get signed up for my free trial class. She was pleasant and was clearly working off a script. A script she was very comfortable with.  

Since my area of South Carolina was under a severe weather watch and travel was restricted, I was unable to commit to a specific time. 

She called back a day later when the weather had cleared a little and we found a time that worked. 

When I arrived for my workout, I was immediately greeted by name as I opened the door. After the workout and I returned home, I received a series of follow up calls and texts. 

There are a couple of major points here. 

First, the follow up with me was immediate and personal. They made a phone call. Not a text or an email, but a person with a voice on the other end of the call talking to me. That is how you build a relationship with your customers from the start. 

Second, they are politely persistent. I am skipping some of the details, but in the 10 days since I filled out the application there have been about 6 calls and 4 texts, including an offer to came back for a second free class.  

I have not decided what my next step is yet. Their follow up is very helpful in my decision-making process. The script they are following is helpful and not pushy. 

Although I cannot call them my friends, I do feel like they really care about me. I am more to them than just a text, email, or an application. 

They have been helpful and have made me comfortable. 

This is a huge part of why they are experiencing a growth explosion.
