Today is a special day!
Today is the 10th anniversary of a special event we hosted in my gym. It was unique and seemingly, to a lot of people, way out of place.
It was not a workout in the physical sense, but it was a workout in a mental sense. Frankly, it took a lot of personal promotion on my part to make it happen.
We took a page out of Jack Canfield’s Book, Success Principles, and hosted a “come as you will be”party.
The party entails everyone in attendance to be dressed in the role of who they want to be in 5 years. Everyone entered by walking down the Red Carpet, alongside rows of cheering fans to a podium where they gave their “acceptance speech” for achieving their goals. Everyone was in costume.
(Side note: We had a lot of fun decorating the gym and improvising!)
There are a lot more details in Canfield’s book, but you get the general idea.
Everyone had a different goal (obviously), and I was struck by how small many people thought.
10 years later, the most successful people in terms of achieving their goals, had the loftiest goals 10 years ago.
In yesterday’s webinar:
Three Things All Fitness Professionals Must STOP Doing,
And One Thing They Must START Doing Now.
I talked about how I see most fitness businesses thinking small and hurting themselves.
For example, thinking “how can I get one more customer this month” is small thinking compared to “how can I get 20 more customers next month.”
Looking for one more customer is usually doing what we have already done.
Getting 20 more next month means that we need to stop, think, plan and execute differently. And different inputs yield different results.
I had planned to make the webinar recording available, but technical glitches may make that impossible. We are studying our options now.
If we can not repair the damage, no fear, as I will offer it again next week.
In the meantime, you might enjoy this Tip Sheet I created after being interviewed about the future of the fitness business. Enjoy.
