I am planning another adventure on two wheels.
This time on a bicycle and I am just now bringing some of the details together.
I was talking about it with a friend the other day and the friend got really excited. They went so far as to say they wanted to join me on a 400-mile excursion.
In the old days I would have been excited about this announcement.
But now I know better. This person is never going to follow through.
Reminds me of sales presentations. We give our best presentation and we’re so excited because we get a yes. And then nothing happens, except we get discouraged and go into a funk.
In Chris Voss’s book, Never Split The Difference, he talks about the three kinds of “yes”, counterfeit, confirmation, and commitment. Reading this opened my eyes.
Only the third one, commitment, is the real deal. The rest are a waste of time.
You can read about the first two, or see a quick summary in my Business Tip Of The Day.
You know when you have the third kind of yes, the commitment yes, when the check clears the bank.
In the 6 Figure Training program I go through this all the time with my VIP clients. I get a call or text and the VIP is so excited because they had a great sales presentation and the prospect said yes.
This can be a very exciting time for the business owner desperately looking for and needing more business. Their excitement is understandable!
But until the money clears the bank, it is difficult to know if this was a real yes or not.
In the meantime, the best scenario is to have another sales presentation scheduled.
If having a perspective like this regarding your sales process and your marketing, one that you can tap into every day would be helpful to you, we should talk.
