Before you head out for the weekend, I have a quick tip to help you build your business, without totally disrupting your weekend.
In fact, this tip takes very little time.
I have prepared a short video for you on how to do this. Check it out here.
Our job as business owners is to develop the resources of our business.
Our community is a very valuable resource that is often overlooked. Community is not our tribe of customers in this sense, but rather our geographical community.
In our community are other businesses, service groups, and community organizations to name a few. Relationships with the leaders of these organizations and businesses can yield great rewards, but effort needs to be put into making the initial connections.
We are all busy and the other business owners are busy. too, taking care of their businesses and their customers, and like you, experiencing the same level of loneliness and isolation as a result of their leadership position.
At the same time, there is space, respect, and genuine interest in other business owners and leaders in the same area. After all, they are facing many of the same issues that you deal with daily.
Knowing who these people are is a very useful asset for you and your business. They can be a source of referrals, a friendly face, and someone to bounce an idea off of from time to time.
Someone has to break the ice. Why not you?
Stop by, shake hands, and say hi! You will likely find the other owner is busy but at the same time, genuinely interested in you, and appreciative of your visit. The best strategy is to introduce yourself, exchange a few quick pleasantries, and, if there seems to be interest, schedule a time convenient to both of you to get together for a cup of coffee.
Pick a business close to your location and make a quick stop on your travels. Have your business card handy and remember to smile.
A word of caution, don’t expect too much. You are building a relationship that has great potential, and it will take some time to see the benefits.
Developing this asset for your business takes time, but it will be time well spent.
Imagine if you do one short stop a week. In only a year you will know 50+ owners, with common concerns.
Remember, you only get results when you take immediate action on your ideas.
