Over the weekend I revisited one of my favorite places, the Adirondack Mountains.
I have spent a lot of time in the Adirondacks with my children as they were growing up. My son and I climbed all the mountains and became 46ers when he was 13 years old.
This time I had some time constraints and I decided to climb a small mountain with a beautiful view that I have climbed no less than 25 times, but that was a while ago.
About 80% of the way to the top, in an area heavily forested, two women came out of the bushes along the side of the trail.
They had visited an outcrop with a view, but it was still a considerable distance from the summit.
Then they proceeded to tell me that their outcrop was the only view, and that I should visit that view and forget my goal of anything better.
With great enthusiasm they informed me that they had been to the top and there was no view there because the trees had grown tall enough to obstruct any view.
They seemed credible and their enthusiasm was intense.
It had been a “minute” since I climbed this little peak and I had to consider that they might be correct. But my instincts doubted that the trees could have grown that much.
But I continued my climb as I remembered the trail.
Soon I summited and yes, the trees had grown taller.
But the view was spectacular!
How often in life do we get derailed on the path to our goals because someone enthusiastically tries to convince us of a lesser goal?
It happens all the time!
My message today is don’t let this happen to you.
Get advice from people who have been where you are going and can tell you how to get there.
I help people transform their business and their lives. I have over 50 years experience in the fitness industry and I know what the view from the top looks like. And it’s beautiful!
I may not be the guy to help you for whatever reason, but isn’t it worth a 30-minute conversationto know for sure?
You can schedule 30 minutes of time with me right here. What do you have to lose?
Thinking back on it, I wonder how many people never saw the beautiful views at the top because of those two women. Saddens me.
