I was picking my youngest daughter up from the Montessori school one day when the President of the Board asked me to meet with her regarding the school.
The school was in trouble.
My reputation as a turn-around specialist had caught the Board’s attention and she asked me if I would consider stepping in as the CEO/Principal.
To make a long story short, the school was going out of business and being evicted from its lease. I accepted the role and 3 years and one day later we moved the school into its own building.
(This completed my trifecta of turn-around success in the Not-For-Profit, the Profit, and the Education sectors. I feel good about that.)
One tradition we had at the school was that on a child’s birthday, they treated the class, in effect giving others a present.
I love that tradition, and I want to continue it today.
