Happy Monday!
For a business owner, Monday is all about opportunity.
We have a week ahead of us to get things done and make differences in people’s lives.
I open my inbox, and here we go again. It’s full. Ugh!
I don’t remember asking for most of this and I work hard at paring my inbox down to only the things of real interest. Still, it fills up.
Before I go any further, thank you for reading this email. It means a lot to me, and motivates me to keep sending them out.
It’s kinda crazy because my last email was about decompressing and now, here we are on the other end of the spectrum.
Anyway, this problem of email overload is here, and will be here for a long time.
So, what do we do about it?
Here are a couple of details and one major antidote to the problem.
First two details.
- I work hard at paring things down and do a good job of pruning my inbox. But as soon as we look something up on the internet, boom, new emails…
- Second, I “bulk” delete unwanted emails, but usually only as a last resort.
You probably do both of these, too. However, this takes time, and the last thing we should do is spend time on this task during our most productive time, in the mornings.
The best solution I have found is to ignore all but the most important emails. My family, my clients, my prospects, and answers to my questions make my list of the important. I deal with these or mark them to return to later.
Then I take the most important tasks of my day, and work on those first. Usually it has nothing to do with my inbox. And going offline is of tremendous help here.
Deal with your most important top three priorities, and then return to the mundane, less important stuff, like sorting out your inbox.
Your day, and your week will be off to a great start, and you’ll feel better.
Keep checking these emails, because I am going to announce something very worthwhile and helpful to you as soon as I put the finishing touches to my stellar, upcoming Web class.
Stay tuned.
Remember, you only get results if you take immediate action on your ideas!
