Taylor Swift’s Brilliant Move

There is a video circulating about a 4-year-old getting ready to watch a football game. She was very excited about the upcoming game, and her awesome energy caught my attention and made me smile.

Her Mom asked her who her favorite football player was and the cute little girl answered, Taylor Swift.

Impossible to watch without breaking into a huge smile.

I want to talk about something else: Taylor’s new release, 1989. It’s a re-release of a previous album, released 9 years ago to the day (another great marketing tactic.)

Brilliant! Her fortune just increased significantly!

What can we learn, and apply to the business world?

There are things we did in the fitness world that we no longer do. One, in particular, is the free trial/open house.

There was a time when free trials and open houses were very productive.

Then along came the pandemic and the free trial, for a variety of reasons disappeared in most communities.

Today big venue concerts are maxed out, group gatherings are very common in all industries, and the stands are filled at sporting events.

Yet many fitness businesses still struggle with filling their facilities with customers, clients, and members.

Is it time to revisit the free trial/open house?

The short answer is YES!

Perhaps not exactly as before, but a reworked, updated version has great potential. Especially as the weather finally turns cooler and people move inside.
