I am camping in the Adirondack Mountains in New York.
Each year at this time our family gets together to celebrate our family at a camping event aptly called family week.
Each year attendance has grown and the Nieces and Nephews have all started their own families.
One of my Nephews is constantly telling his three-year-old to “use your words.”
The three year old thinks that by just making lots of noise he can get what he wants or needs. (This is usually screaming, crying, or yelling.)
My nephew patiently and skillfully redirects the youngster to focus on using words to get what he wants. It’s inspiring to watch as I remember when my nephew was learning how to use his words in a similar fashion.
In short, my nephew is teaching his son how to market what he wants. Initially it may seem to be a stretch, but marketing is being able to get the attention of our ideal prospects with the products and services that are the solution to their problem.
Too often I see businesses making a lot of noise in the marketplace, hoping someone will pay attention.
Instead, they need to use their words.
More specifically, we all need to use the right words to convey our message. 100% of the time, this means that we need to learn some new words and how to put them together to send out a clear message.
