Traveling through northern Arizona was a totally different world than the desert.
The elevation was breathtaking, and the cooler temperatures a welcome relief.
It’s amazing how little things can change our perspective.
In the business world, perspective is everything. Especially during these different and challenging times.
Financial reports tell us a lot about our business. But they come after the fact. They are a view of past performance, interesting and insightful.
But to use the financial reports to make decision is akin to steering your car, by looking out the rear view mirror. No even close to effective.
Instead we need to create and use a daily dashboard. The dashboard should be individually tailored for each specific situation. It should contain the 3 – 5 most important metrics for your organization and it should be analogous by design. Much more on this later.
For now the important thing is to understand why it’s important, and what it really is at it’s roots.
