This week’s question came from one of my VIP clients and he asked,
“What is the most effective marketing strategy that you have tried?”
In today’s world with all the distractions our prospects face, this question is more relevant than at any other time in history.
Every business, large or small, struggles with this question. Yes, even the big box stores and operations. And for a good reason. Get the answer to this question wrong and you burn money like there is no tomorrow.
Get the answer wrong and you can be out of business in days or even hours.
On the other hand, get this answer right, and there is no limit to growth and prosperity. The answer is literally that critically important.
Out of all the possible answers to this question is the one that works best for you with proven and sustainable results.
Before you accuse me of a non-answer, let me continue my answer with a bit more depth,
The marketing strategy that works best for you with sustainable results will come to you through work; planning, implementation, adjustment, and measurement.
None of this is possible if our plan is in our head, where I used to house my marketing plan before I learned this truth. Only if our plan is in some form of writing can we truly plan, implement, adjust, and measure what is really going on.
Therefore, Step 1 is about creating a marketing plan. This is your starting point and the most important thing you can do.
Regardless of whether or not you hire your marketing plan out (not desirable) or manage your marketing yourself (highly desirable) your starting point must be written or else you are wasting time and money.
Frankly, most people would have a written marketing plan, if they only knew where to start.
