According to Harvard Professor of Epidemiology, I-Min Lee, the concept of walking 10,000 steps has it’s roots in a branding campaign for a Japanese pedometer. In Japanese writing, 10,000 looks like a person walking!
Manufacturers of tracking products and shoe companies have jumped on this as a clever way to market their products.
Think about this for a second.
The impact has been staggering.
Chances are that all of your clients, customers, and members know the concept of 10,000 steps, and few, if any, know that the number is not based on science.
In fact the number is not achievable, or advisable, for a vast number of people.
