It’s hard to believe, but we are up to the last and final step, Part 5.
I am very busy all the time. You are busy all the time. Everyone is busy all the time. Given this reality, how come some people accomplish so much compared to others?
This question relates to our personal life as well as our business lives.
The small business owner’s success in business relates directly to the owner’s use of time. If that time gets used putting our fires and chasing one crisis after another, the business will grow, or not, depending on various “chance” factors.
Serious small business growth, including explosive growth, occurs as a result of concentrated and focused attention from the owner. We may wish for the lucky break, like the Hail Mary Pass in football, but like football, small business success is, with rare exception, a ground game.
We start with a real goal, break the goal down into steps, calculate the time needed to accomplish the goal on a daily basis, schedule that time in our daily planner a week ahead, and then do the work, day after day.
This is not the plan many will try to sell you. It’s human nature to want something easier that does not look like work and shady salespeople take advantage of that with emotional pitches trying to move us away from reality onto a seemingly easier path.
There is no easy button in business, or is there?
Following the plan outlined above for a short time generates results and quickly accomplishes the goal. Looking back, people universally remark about how easy it really was after the goal is accomplished.
