Regardless of what we believe about the economy, the fitness industry is still 36% behind pre-pandemic enrollments, according to a recent IRSHA study. Now is the time to act!
Over decades, I have heard how nothing happens in the fitness industry in December and an alarming number of owners coast through the month in anticipation of a huge influx of new business in January.
On the other hand, there is a small group of owners who look at December very differently. They see opportunities, especially this year.
I got a message from a VIP client on Saturday. Six highly qualified prospects showed up for an introductory event (not a workout) he hosted. The event created an energy that left him on cloud nine.
This did not happen by accident. Earlier this fall we created a plan, and he promoted a series of events specifically designed for prospects during November and December.
My VIP client’s biggest challenge was confronting his own attitude that no one would show up during the holiday season. Despite his doubts he moved forward on faith and now the results speak for themselves.
Now he has a new energy and belief that December AND January will break all records.
Here is the plan he followed:
- Commit to a strategy to grow his business, and work on it every day.
- Create a compelling message.
- Create a list of prospects.
- Promote the message to his prospects in a compelling way.
- Track your results and know your numbers.
- Offer a world-class experience.
- Follow through.
Of course, the devil is in the details, but remember version #1 is better than version “none.”
