Why Can’t We Get More People Coming Through The Door

Have you heard of resignation Friday?

It’s the second Friday in January and it got its name because it’s the day that most people give up on their New Year’s resolutions.

This year resignation Friday is on the 12th of January. That’s nine days from now.

For the next nine days, people are still committed to their new resolutions.

This is very good news in that the latest reports say that close to 100% of people have health and fitness at the top of their desires for the new year!

My VIP clients’ teams were discouraged because they were not seeing a lot of new people coming through the door.

So I asked how many new people had come in so far. The answer was three, on New Year’s Day.

My next question was, where do each of them stand?

Crickets!

No one could tell me where each person stood in the intake process. They assured me there was a process, but they could not give me a report.

I assured them I had heard that before, and truth be told, I’ve operated that way (in the dark) myself in the past.

Step one in solving the “where are all the new people” question is to have a system to manage and track all the prospects.

The acid test is, can you handle 50 new sign-ups a day? If not, then you really don’t have a system.

I was assured there would be a system, with checks and balances, in place within a few hours.

BINGO! Now they will be ready for an onslaught of new people.

Then the staff team came up with Step #2. One person volunteered to call everyone who had visited the gym in the last 60 days and start a conversation about their new year goals.

Then we reviewed, in detail, the questions to be asked, and the very specific order to ask the questions, and how to follow up and get incredibly positive results.

Finally, we created Step #3, a guarantee, and structured that conversation that will separate this gym from any and all competitors. We added two more small details of things relevant to this particular gym.

That’s the formula needed to take maximum advantage of the next 9 days!

Crushing your goals in 2024 starts with crushing your goals in January when interest in fitness is at its peak.
