I’m back in Rochester, NY where I spent most of my fitness business life.
I find it fascinating to catch up with the local news again.
Each year the community hosts a major music festival. Interestingly, the festival was started by a gym owner some years ago.
The festival has not happened for a couple of years because of the pandemic, and there is a big public push to get people to attend this year’s events.
In fact, for the first time in recent history all the concerts, many with big-name headliners, are free to encourage maximum attendance.
Then the next news story featured a trainer who is offering free workouts at local parks for the summer. Again, the message was the same.
We all need the human connection more than ever and this featured trainer was wisely taking advantage of a huge opportunity.
He is capitalizing on the movement to get people out in the community and comfortable being around each other again. This means free media coverage and heightened visibility.
In short, he is getting free marketing for his business.
In his demonstration, he provided useful content to keep the viewers engaged.
He provided social proof that his approach works with a testimonial.
He nailed his presentation and really connected with the newscaster and the audience.
The same opportunity is there for every fitness professional right now, anywhere in the country.
Here is what you do:
- Decide to offer some free training at a local outdoor venue.
- Contact your local new station and tell them of your plans and what you have to offer their viewers.
- Create an effective program and offer it on multiple dates.
- Build some solid marketing strategies for before, during, and after each session.
- Above all, do NOT leave anything to chance.
