As I fix my truck I am constantly researching parts, tools, and general knowledge.
A few years ago this would have been a daunting task, but thanks to the internet things have changed.
Typically I will do some internet research, figure out what I need, and then call a local store.
I like to keep my business local, and I am used to a level of knowledge gained from talking to a live person in a store.
Can you believe that about 50% of the time, the store employee puts me on hold while they do their own Google search?
And they tell me they are going to do a Google Search before putting me on hold. Then they come back with nothing that I haven’t already discovered.
There is a HUGE marketing lesson here for all business owners:
The cornerstone of ALL your marketing in 2022 is how you show up on a Google Internet search.
I can’t possibly overstate this fact.
So what do you do about it?
The first step is to do an audit of your internet presence, specifically with Google search.
Take a few minutes and search for your business. Then do a similar search for some other businesses including some of your competitors.
Grab a pen and paper and make a list. What do you notice? What is working great? What needs improvement?
