Creating Your Portable Roadshow, History Museum

In yesterday’s email, I wrote about the power of creating a visual history of your business.  (If you missed it, you can catch up here.)

This should be a physical item or items that that people can look at, touch, scan through or focus on in great detail as they choose

I should depict your history, your culture and most of all your successes in helping people achieve their goals and dreams.

You want these items because they remind people that they are not alone, that other people have achieved what they are seeking, that you have been around and will continue to be around, that your business really has no competition,  and, most importantly you have the program that is their best solution to their needs.

But what if you don’t have your own facility? What if you are a personal trainer working out of people’s homes?

The answer is the same, surprisingly.

You need a scrapbook and/or a photo album that tells your story. Your story of longevity, authenticity, your lack of any real competition, and your proven track record of helping people achieve real lasting success.

Pictures are the best way to get this message across. Technology makes it easy to caption a picture to capture the essence of the moment.

Written testimonials, with a headshot of the author, work wonders. Remember not everyone uses or believes Google reviews.

And most useful are success stories of actual clients achieving actually proven results.

When you have this scrapbook or photo album compiled, take it with you to sales meetings when you are meeting your prospective customer’s home for the first time. Let your prospect explore it and encourage them to ask you questions.

Or, if the opportunity does not present itself you don’t have to use it. Sometimes I have used it to keep my presentation on track after being sidetracked for whatever reason.

I used to take mine to my existing clients on occasion. Keep in mind that I had clients for over 20 years, yet I still found it useful to bring along my portfolio from time to time. Often they would look at what they wrote and offer to update it for me with their latest success and offer other suggestions for improvement.
