Digital Body Language

How many emails do you get in a day?

For a long time I knew what my number was.

Not any more.

When I get motivated to clean the Inbox out, two things inevitably happen.

  1. No matter what my intentions are, the Inbox never gets cleaned up completely
  2. I do a lot of “bulk deleting”

Sound familiar? Of course it does – we all do it.

In our small businesses, we have an ever-increasing number of options to choose from when it comes to communicating with our customers, members, and prospects.

Not all forms of communication are equal!

Most of the “easiest” ways to communicate are also the most ineffective.

In the book, Digital Body Language, by Erica Dhawan, I read something shocking that made immediate sense, once I got over my initial surprise.

Here it is:

One phone call or video call is worth 1000 emails!

Wow!!

Now think for a second about how this relates to social media, and it’s mind-boggling.

Conventional marketing continues to tell us more is better even in light of statistics like these.

In our small businesses, we need customers to fulfill our mission, pay the bills, and stay afloat. To do this we need effective communication.

I am not saying we should stop emails, but rather keep that email initiative in perspective.

Want to change your business in the next six months?

What would happen if you made one or two phone calls a day every day for the rest of the year to promote your business, check with a customer, or answer a question?

Just this simple act would be the equivalent of sending out thousands of emails over the same period of time.

Want to learn how to make your marketing more effective with ideas that really work? I can help you with that, just go here.
