How To Follow Up With The New Year’s Crowd

It’s certainly no secret that most people make a New Year’s Resolution at the beginning of the year.

It’s also no secret that most of those resolutions are broken very quickly.

And most fitness business owners accept these realities as fact. People come and people go.

However, there is more to Resignation Friday that we can do to keep more of these people engaged.

Enter another reality, Resignation Friday, the first Friday in January.

This is the day most people quit their New Year’s Resolution.

Things get crazy busy in the fitness world in January, with energy for new goals and priorities.

It’s easy to miss some details in all the hustle and excitement.

Often overlooked is the new person who we assume will stay with us for the duration.

But that is not always the case; in some cases, the new person is already gone.

All new people face a huge challenge and it’s time specific. Resignation Friday is when most people give up on their resolutions.

If they get to this tipping point, their chances of staying with their goal dramatically increase.

Most of the time, they need reassurance and encouragement to stay the course. This is our opportunity to call, text, email, and/or talk to them about how they are doing.

Just touching base with them can be all that’s necessary to get them to commit to one more week. Get them through that one more week and they just might become one of your raving fans.

But, and this is a big BUT, the next 48 hours are critical and contact needs to be made now. As the Nike ad says, “Just Do It!”

Crushing your goals in 2024 starts with crushing your goals in January when interest in fitness is at its peak.

If not now, then when?
