I Gave It Away

I have been a triathlete and bike racer for years.

The foundation of all my training was my physical and general fitness. What’s the point of high-performance equipment, unless you have a highly tuned body?

As my fitness and conditioning improved, I invested in the very best equipment.

I no longer compete in the longer endurance events and when I do compete, it’s simply because I love the sport and really enjoy competing.

Over time I have sold off most of my expensive equipment, save my racing bike.

While the bike is dated, it’s still a highly respectable racing bike and I have kept it in excellent condition.

I tried to sell the bike a couple of times – no takers. I kept thinking if only someone comes along that really wants a bike like this, I’ll give it to them.

The bike owes me nothing and has given me countless memories that bring an instant smile to my face.

Then yesterday, it happened!

I had located a store specializing in taking in old bikes and repurposing them for people in need of a bike.

The owner of the store took one look at my bike and remarked what great condition it was in.

Then he told me he had a guy in mind to gift my bike to. A young teenager with a strong desire to become a bike racer desperately needed a road bike to train on. We are the same size and the bike will fit!!!

Boom!

Instantly, I felt even better about my decision to pay it forward.

No amount of money in exchange for that bike can surpass the satisfaction I feel from making that gift.

It’s the same with the free conversation I offer at the bottom of this email. At its root, it’s about me paying it forward to you (should you choose to accept my gift) and offering whatever help I can in 30 minutes for you to crush your goals in an industry near and dear to both of us.

But the burden is on you to pick a time for us to chat. There is only an upside for you.

I am giving you some of my experience and wisdom for the asking.

Are you interested?
