Listening Intently To Our Customers Gives Us Clues to Improve Our Marketing

I was out for my early morning walk in the RV park I am temporarily staying at.

There seemed to be a car following me at a distance. After a five minutes of this, I turned around and started walking toward the car.

Down came the window and a woman asked who I was. Instead of answering, I asked who she was and she identified herself as the park owner.

Our conversation continued with her asking me to prove I was one of her customers and accusing me of entering her park from the opposite side of the road.

She made a bad decision about handling her customers.

This is not how we should treat people, much less customers. Instead of assumptions and accusations she could have identified herself in the beginning and politely asked me a few questions.

If not the most important part of a business, the customer certainly ranks high on the list for every business. Yet so many people act like this woman.

The country is opening back up and people continue to warm up to the idea of returning to group activities, family events, celebrations, and fitness activities.

They are the same people yet changed in fundamental ways.

It is critical that we stay on top of these changes and use this information in our marketing messaging.
