They Called Me On Sunday Morning

Sunday mornings are usually peaceful without a lot of interruptions from phone calls.

So when a call came in from a number I did not recognize at 10 am I was surprised, and of course, since I did not recognize the number or the area code, very suspicious.

Against my better judgment, I answered the call.

To my surprise, the call was from a company I had ordered a product from a day ago.

Then I was even more surprised to learn the purpose of the call was to tell me that my order would be arriving a couple of days late, due to a snowstorm the seller was experiencing, which was delaying all shipping.

Now I was really surprised.

This is the epitome of customer service, and I told the caller as much. She told me it was the least they could do in light of the storm.

I took the opportunity to talk to her a bit about the product I had ordered since this was a new product to me.

As we talked about my purchase and how it fits into the seller’s product line, I was intrigued by another new product they offered. I asked if she could add that to my order and she said it could be done.

I was not “sold” anything, but I became a “buyer,” and I am pleased with my decision.

This is marketing at its best. By taking care of me and exceeding my expectations, they delivered a world-class experience and Increased customer (me) lifetime value.

These are two of the nine critical steps I teach when I help people build marketing plans that get results now.

To be effective, a marketing plan must meet the following minimal criteria to start with:

  1. Be in print of some form
  2. Clearly understood and routinely executed
  3. Be specific and measurable

I remember when my marketing plan was really inside my head. It was frustrating. Then out of desperation, I had an expert help me put a plan together and suddenly everything made sense. My actions were focused, things began to make sense, everything linked together and my business exploded.

My mission, and why I started the 6 Figure Trainers Program, is to help other people in the fitness space build and grow a profitable business.
