I’m off to visit a client’s gym in a few minutes.
These meetings are so much fun, along with being very productive. I can’t wait!
I’ve had some questions on the series I am doing on hiring, so I want to take a minute, go back to the beginning, and set the stage again.
Hiring is one thing that will make or break your organization.
At 6 Figure Trainers, we frequently talk about the ultimate transaction.
The ultimate transaction is what happens between a client, customer, or member, and a service provider.
In the health and fitness industry, the ultimate transaction is what happens between a coach or trainer and the client or member.
As owners of businesses, we hire people to represent us to our paying customers. In effect, we hand the responsibilities for the ultimate transaction over to someone else.
This is huge. Our employees have vast influence over the future of our business, much more than they are usually given credit for.
When we have an opportunity to fill a position with a new person, it’s really an opportunity to change the trajectory of our business.
I like to even go a step further, when we have a staff opening, the future of our business will change regardless of whether we are conscious of it, direct the change, or become laissez-faire about it.
Hiring a new employee should be treated more like a campaign than a simple task of just filling an empty seat.
Just because some well-intended person steps forward and agrees to fill an open position does not necessarily mean your temporary problem is solved. In fact, it may lead to even bigger problems.
Doing it wrong is costly in both time and money. Simple research on the cost of making a poor hiring choice is staggering, yet so many people think they can push the easy button on this.
Doing it right takes time and skills.
A campaign to hire the right person is the proven way to improve and increase the odds of making the right choice.
At a minimum, your campaign should include creating a team of people to help you with this process. Never has it been more important to not trust yourself.
A great starting point for understanding this process is to review the articles I have published already. You can find this information in the links below.
