Recovery room. The foot surgery went well.

However, I would much prefer to be up and active rather than have all this downtime.

But this will be a good time to catch up on some videos I’ve wanted to watch.

OK, at this point in the hiring process you have gone through all the steps of the interview and selection process and you’re ready to make the offer and move ahead.

How you make the offer is very important.

The offer as well as the entire interview process sets the tone for the employee’s tenure.

Your thorough screening and interviewing process have laid a great foundation for the values you hold most dear and the culture you have created in your organization.

The new hire has an impression of how your organization works and how he/she will fit in as a member of the team.

A thorough and formal face-to-face offer works the best. In some cases, a phone conversation outlining the details will be necessary, but nothing should be interpreted as final until your meeting.

Gather all the necessary paperwork, forms, and exhibits into a presentation packet and present your offer. Get everything signed, either electronically or on paper.

Clearly outline the path forward for the next 30, 60, and 90 days. A clearly defined probationary period is always a good idea.
